Our Richard Sauret Zinfandel displays a definitive “west-Paso” style, reflective of the cooler conditions and limestone soils on this side of the region. Located at the base of the Santa Lucia Mountains, this steep hillside vineyard is split into two blocks: the House Plot, an 11-acre block planted to half-century-old, head-pruned vines bedded in limestone, shale and clay soils, and the Hill Top Block, which is home to newer vines, planted to the St. Peter’s Church clone. Winegrower Richard Sauret has owned and operated the vineyard for over 60 years, maintaining low yields and producing intensely concentrated flavors.
