Located close to the Hyde Vineyard north of the Carneros Highway but further west, the terrain here is more rolling than that of Hyde, and the soil lighter and more friable. Blocks and selections include E-block (Wente) and F-block (unheat-treated Robert Young, a Wente selection), both planted in 1984.
Due to their great density and structure, the wines are able to absorb more oak without being overwhelmed, and see around seventy percent new Burgundian barrels. In addition, these wines spend more time in barrel, up to twenty-one months, and completely sur lies, before being bottled without filtration. Hudson Vineyard wines tend to be a more muscular and masculine character.
