The 2003 Barolo Bricco Boschis, a dark ruby, reveals a wild, brooding personality. It offers masses of dark fruit and grilled herbs in a full-bodied, idiosyncratic, somewhat animalistic style. It is a massively tannic, impressively structured Barolo that needs bottle age to settle down. While it may not have the elegance of the superb 2001, this quirky Barolo improved markedly in the glass and is likely to offer much pleasure for those who can be patient. It remains one of the better relative values in Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. [RP]
